Hugo Metcalfe walks the Great Wall of China - sponsered by It Must Be Green!

Hugo is a 22 years old currently in his final year of psychology at the university of Leicester. In August this year he set off to Beijing to his starting point at the Jiayuguan Pass. From here he will proceed east through the towns of Suzhou, Shandan, Jinchang, Yinchuan, Yulin, Zhangjiakou, Qinhuangdao until successfully completing his journey at the Shanhaiguan pass, having walked a grand total of 4000 miles.

Succeeding in this task will make Hugo the first solo British traveller to have ever trekked the wall in its entirety as well as the youngest person to have traversed its length.

During the walk he will be raising money for he British Diabetic Society charity (a cause close to his heart in that his father has recently been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes). This charity undertakes to research the cause, treatment and potential cure of this debilitating disease as well as increasing awareness of it. Hugo hopes that his expedition will in its way further raise this awareness as well as providing more funds for this research.
